How to Set Up A Successful Baby Gear Rental Store

August 30, 2021

Your store is vital—after all, it’s your first opportunity to grab potential parents’ attention with beautiful photos, popular amenities, and a detailed description of your product. It’s also important to carefully set your availability, delivery points, and pricing, which helps you to receive the orders you can fulfill! We're here to share tips to make your store attention-grabbing, successful, and high demand!

Make your store attractive!

The first step of launching your store, and the first thing that traveling parents will look at, is going to be your store! Carefully, choose your store name and store picture. We suggest you choose short, clear, and easy-to-remember store names; for example, "Eva's Baby Gear Rental" or "Baby Gear London." While choosing a store picture, you can choose a picture of you from travel or with your little ones to make your store more relatable, and sincere.

It is also a good idea to clearly introduce yourself; we recommend you mention a little bit about your personal life to make your store more relatable for traveling families. At the Babonbo platform, we have four main languages as being English, Spanish, Italian, and French; by adding your description in all of these four languages, you can attract more parents from all around the world.

Set several delivery locations - Airports, hotels, and more.

Before diving into the details of delivery points, please set your store location. In other words, as a first delivery point, choose your city, and set it as your number one delivery location. In this way, you'll have a higher chance of being seen in location searches made by customers.

One of the most important things for traveling parents is where and when to receive their orders. They're tourists in a foreign location; therefore, making things easy for them will increase your chance of getting order requests. Most of the customers choose to receive their order as soon as they arrive at the destination, and they don't want to spend a lot of time finding the location in an unknown city. So consider adding popular airports, hotels, and attractions in your location as a delivery point

You can set a delivery fee separately for each delivery point. If the customer does not decide to receive the baby gear from your location, you can charge a delivery fee, but if they'll come to your location and pick up the baby gear by themselves, it's going to be free.

Specify your availability!

As a provider, you have control over when to be seen on searches and when traveling families can rent from your store. If you decided to go on a holiday, don't worry, just set your unavailable days and enjoy your vacation. It is important to set availability, because if you don't state your unavailable times, you may have to reject order requests which will harm your store awareness and reputation.

In the settings, you can see the schedules and availability buttons. You can set your available hours during the day for a delivery, and also the dates when your store will be closed. You're free to set your availability, and don't worry; we do not let customers book baby gear with same-day delivery.

Once you receive an order request, you'll have 24h to respond to your customer. If by any chance you forget to set your unavailable days, and if you feel like you cannot meet the request of your customer, please contact them, and offer any other provider at your location. You can always contact our support team, and ask for help.

List your baby gear!

Whether you'll rent out a single product or a whole bunch of it, you can make your store popular by presenting your products perfectly! We recommend you add at least a stroller, a crib, and a car seat to your store. These are the most rented baby gear in most of our stores. While adding your products, keep these few points in your mind:

Use quality product pictures: Quality photos help showcase your baby gear and status, so it’s wise to update your photos often and remember to feature specific details. You can take a photo of your product from the brand's website to make sure that it's clean and high-quality.

Craft a detailed description: Be sure your title and description capture anything parents should know about your product. Add the age details, brand name, and basic features of your product. Again, we recommend you add descriptions in four main languages, English, Spanish, Italian, and French, to attract more customers.

Commit to cleanliness: To help ensure the safety of our community, we require all providers who offer to rent to commit to the process of Babonbo’s enhanced cleaning protocol. You are solely responsible for all baby gear safety, use, cleanliness, and maintenance. You will comply with all policies relating to baby gear and cleaning standards.

Keep prices competitive: How much you charge for your equipment is entirely up to you, but here are a few things to keep in mind. Parents often prioritize price when searching for a product, so it’s essential to make sure your product is a good value for your offers, conditions, and amenities you offer. As a new provider, you may want to start with a lower-than-average daily rate until you have a positive review or two.
