The Best Italy Summer Destinations For Families

März 29, 2024

Italy is one of the most popular destinations for family travel, with so much to explore, admire, and enjoy. Although it is an excellent destination throughout the year, it is known for its fantastic summer destinations. From Puglia, or among the coasts of Sardinia, the route goes to the Amalfi Coast or the main cities such as Milan and Rome. In all places, you find a piece of yourself and enjoy the pleasant summer vibes in Italy. Where you can associate the pleasantness of the sea with visiting places of art and tasting excellent local food. With its numerous popular summer destinations, Italy can be the right place for your summer vacation this year.

How to start planning an Italy summer vacation?

First, you need to consider the details of your travel. Choosing the destination based on travel details might be a good idea for enjoying your time fully. When it comes to traveling to Italy, there are lots of destinations. We recommend you specify the time you're traveling to choose the one for you. For example, traveling to Rome in August might not be the best idea, with all the heat and the holiday season.

Secondly, consider your interests and preferences. Italy offers a diverse range of experiences, from historical landmarks to breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cities to serene countryside retreats. If you're a history buff, cities like Rome might be ideal, with their rich cultural heritage and iconic monuments. On the other hand, if you're seeking relaxation, the Amalfi Coast or the Sardinia could be perfect for unwinding amidst stunning natural beauty.

Finally, pack as light as you can. Packing light can significantly enhance your Italy summer vacation experience. Italy's cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways can be challenging to navigate with heavy luggage or strollers. Aim to pack only the essentials and rent other stuff in Italy. Most of the time, heavy city strollers are not a good option in Italy; therefore, renting a lightweight stroller or a baby carrier from a local can save you from carrying all the bulky equipment for no sense. If you're planning to rent a car, don't bring your car seat all the way. US and European car seats are different in terms of placement and rules, so consider renting them from a local parent who can help you with placement as well.

"We would highly recommend it! They were very kind and communicative. The car seat was in great condition and they gave thorough instructions for how to use it." - Babonbo Customer 👼

Trulli houses in Alberobello fascinate children with their unique architecture. The Zoosafari Fasanolandia near Fasano is a fun wildlife park where kids can see animals up close.

Welcome to Sardinia, a paradise island in the heart of the Mediterranean, where azure waters lap against golden shores and rugged mountains beckon adventurers. With its family-friendly beaches, fascinating archaeological sites, and welcoming villages, Sardinia promises an unforgettable summer escape for travelers of all ages.

· Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Sardinia is from May to June or September to October when the weather is warm, and the beaches are less crowded.
· Kid-Friendly Attractions: Sardinia offers family-friendly beaches such as Spiaggia del Principe and La Pelosa. Kids will enjoy exploring the Grotte di Nettuno (Neptune's Grotto) near Alghero and the water park BluFan near Olbia.
· Stroller Accessibility: Many of Sardinia's beaches and towns are stroller-friendly, but some rural areas may have rough terrain. Consider renting a sturdy, all-terrain stroller for outdoor activities.
· Transportation: Renting a car is recommended for exploring Sardinia's diverse landscapes. Car rental companies typically offer car seats, but availability and safety may vary. So, we recommend renting your car seat with Babonbo to make sure that your little one is safe and comfortable. You can also rent a carrier, which might be more suitable for sightseeing in crowded areas or hiking trails.

When you visit Sardinia, you should visit the capital city of this Italian island! Cagliari, is the economic and touristic hub of the island. Make sure to visit The Marina, especially if your kids are interested in ships. Another destination we suggest you visit in Cagliari is the Molentargius Natural Park, which is characterized by beautiful vegetation and ponds. Here, you will see numerous species of water birds, including flamingos! There are many options for visiting the park. You can take a boat or a minibus tour. If you want to move a bit, you can walk or cycle until you reach the Poetto beach. If you don't have a bike, there is no need to worry about it. You can rent it at the info point where there are options for children and the possibility of taking a baby seat!

Amalfi Coast ⛱️

Prepare to be mesmerized by the beauty of the Amalfi Coast, where dramatic cliffs plunge into the azure waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and pastel-hued villages cascade down hillsides. With its blend of natural splendor, cultural treasures, and gastronomic delights, the Amalfi Coast offers families an unforgettable Italian escape.

The service is very well organized. We oderded kids car seat and stroller in October in Rome, they were dilivered on time right to the place we rented car and were picked up at the same place.  The car seat was of high safety level and was very comfortable for our baby (3.5 yo), so she slept well while we traveled. They were very supportive, positive, and helpful. They connected us in advance to make all the agreements. Overall, we have had a positive experience with this service! - Babonbo Customer 👼
