Paris with Kids: Family Friendly City Guide

Juli 14, 2022

Paris is usually referred to as the city of love and a perfect place for romantic encounters. The French capital, also called La Ville Lumière, also has a lot to offer to the families that decide to visit it! From parks and museums to breathtaking walks to truly be immersed in Parisian life. During these walks, it is easy for your little ones to get tired, so we advise you to rent a stroller, or a car seat in case you decide to move by car, from one of our Babonbo providers in Paris so that you can enjoy your trip to this city to the fullest!

There are many points of interest and places where families can stop off. Below we present to you some of them, all suitable for children but that, after all, the whole family will be able to appreciate and enjoy!

Family-Friendly Activities

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower can be considered the symbol par excellence of Paris, and for this reason, we had to include it in the list of places you should visit with your kids. It was inaugurated in 1889 as part of the Universal Exhibition of Paris and is 324 meters high. Millions of visitors flock every year to visit this marvelous Tower. The breathtaking view you have from the top of the Eiffel Tower is something we recommend you experience at least once in your life, but we are aware that with kids, this could be a bit more complicated! So here are two alternative solutions. The first one is very simple: you can admire the Tower from the ground! It's not the same, but it will still be worth it. The second one is to have a picnic next to the Eiffel Tower, preferably at sunset (let's give the whole family a little touch of romance!). Starting at 10 pm, you can admire a light show every hour, an unforgettable experience, especially for the little ones!

Pompidou Center
The Pompidou Center is one of the best-known and most recognizable buildings in all of Paris. It was designed in 1971 and is characterized by a quirky beauty, pipes, and escalators on the outside of the building. It is a cultural center you can't miss if you go to the French capital with the whole family as there are many attractions for all family members. One of these is the Galerie des Enfants, an interactive exhibition area, where children can explore the different worlds of visual arts, architecture, design, music, and writing. Another attraction is the Atelier des Enfants, where, instead, they organize workshops specifically for all family members. None will go away bored from the Pompidou Centre!

La Citè des Enfants
La Citè des Enfants is the perfect destination for all families as it is an area entirely dedicated to the little ones! It is divided into two main areas. The first one is dedicated to children aged 2 to 7, with various stations created to stimulate their skills. Additionally, in this area, particular attention is given to parents. Some activities are designed to teach them how to play and educationally interact with their children. The second section of the Citè des Enfants, instead, is dedicated to children aged 5 to 12 and focuses on intriguing them and teaching them while having fun. In short, even the older brothers or sisters can still enjoy their time here with activities dedicated to them!

The Notre Dame Cathedral
An honorable mention certainly goes to this cathedral. Unfortunately, after the fire in April 2019, Notre Dame is closed to the public, meaning that the only thing you can do now is to admire it from the outside (which, honestly speaking, is still a beautiful view). Despite this, we still want to suggest it as a possible destination for your future trips to Paris with your children, hoping we can return to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral very soon!

What to eat in Paris?

Creperie du Beaubourg
If you are looking for some sweet and tasty dishes to eat, we recommend you go to the Creperie du Beaubourg, where the tradition of crepes is at its heart. Established in 1997, the founders spent some years in Ireland before returning to Paris and opening this venue. Young and old will be able to choose from a wide selection of crepes, ciders, Celtic whiskeys, Mariage Frères teas, and homemade chocolate (needless to say, alcohol is better left to the older ones). After eating the delicacies prepared here, you will certainly feel the passion for both Brittany and Ireland characteristic of this Creperie.

Le Petit Poucet
If, on the other hand, you are looking for a restaurant that prepares French cuisine but with a slightly modern touch, go to Le Petit Poucet. This restaurant dates back more than a century, and over the years, it has been transformed from a tavern to a bar and eventually into the restaurant it is today. The building is located on the bank of the Seine, the environment is decorated in wood, and all the dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients to make them even tastier. Furthermore, the little ones can have fun on Sundays thanks to the presence of a magician who will entertain them with magic tricks.

La Ferme de Charles
Finally, if you are looking for a place with a comfortable and peaceful atmosphere, here is La Ferme de Charles. This restaurant is a clear homage to the Ingalls family from "Little House on the Prairie." The dishes are simple but very generous, both in terms of taste and quantity. Additionally, every Sunday, the little ones can enjoy a special brunch entirely dedicated to them with an all-you-can-eat buffet, both sweet and savory. The whole family will for sure leave this place with a nice full tummy.
